After attending LoFi Delphi’s set at the Deutschtown Music Festival, I caught up with pianist/vocalist Becki Gallagher and got her to answer our inquisitive queries for today’s inquisition.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Brian Crawford and Sarah Kremer of The River’s Edge, Pittsburgh’s only 24/7 local radio station playing all local music. Their mission is to bring local music and entertainment into your homes and promote local culture through their network, talk programs, and community outreach.
Hey! I went to Warped Tour this year and it was crazy rad. I was lucky enough to hook up with the Mable Syndrome podcast to get press credentials and a buddy on tour got me an all-access pass, so I was able to cover it from all angles (and get some lovely lovely shade).
First up for the day were pop punk locals Eternal Boy. This was a pretty special show for them as it was also the release day of their new album Awkward Phase. I was thrilled to see a sizable crowd gathered to see them. Their music was great, as always, and a lot of fun. If you’re not familiar with them, make sure you check out our interview.
Last Thursday I attempted to get back into the swing of things after an extremely epic & adventurous summer vacation by going to a show at one of my favorite off-the-beaten path venues, Moondogs Pub. I had been promised the Full Monty, Evad & The Ominous Squad, Rocky Dennis Face, plus one act TBA in the storied bar’s familiar, dive-y, comfort. The last time I’d attempted to cover Evad & O.S. and Rocky D.F. Evad had to cancel due to illness & I didn’t feel like I got the full R.D.F. experience. Other Scott’s bass tone, having been set up for someone else, was… off, to say the least. Rejoice! For this attempt was far more successful! And a shitload of fun!
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Indigo Baloch, who works with Roboto, City Grows and The Venus Flytrap and is also a business woman working with various business partners. We met at Espresso A Mano, where we both got to enjoy a mocha and a conversation about the local music scene.
This is one of those weekends where there’s about nineteen things going on and I want to do them all. I’m not going to tell you which show you should go to, but know that there’s so much good music happening in a wide variety of genres this weekend. Get to a show!
I sat down with Cameron, Matt, and Harrison of Lawn Care last month to talk about their upcoming record. We ended up having a really great conversation that also touched on what musical genres really mean, their future plans, and their thoughts on the local Pittsburgh scene. Definitely don’t miss these guys at their record release show tomorrow, Friday, July 21st!
