After attending LoFi Delphi’s set at the Deutschtown Music Festival, I caught up with pianist/vocalist Becki Gallagher and got her to answer our inquisitive queries for today’s inquisition.

List the names of every band that you’ve ever played in ever.

Soccer Mom Mafia, Better Half, A New Hope, The Sofa Kings, Words to Live By, Bridgley Moore, The Lost Sea, LoFi Delphi, Garter Shake.

What was the artist, album, or song that inspired you to play/write music?

There are so many to choose from… but I remember really diving into the Beatles White Album when I was 16. The songs are all so different. It is incredibly inspiring to listen to how they could put together such a masterpiece and also keep it interesting.

What is your favorite piece of merch that you own?

I had a quilt made of all my old favorite bands’ tshirts (c 2002-2006). It is my absolute favorite thing relating to music because it has so many great memories in one place 🙂

Tell us one thing about the Pittsburgh music scene that could be better and one thing about the scene that you love.

All of us who book shows and festivals need to do a better job of booking diverse acts. It is necessary to make our scene better for the future local musicians. The thing that I love about our scene is how many friends I’ve made and reconnected with from the past. Pittsburgh people are amazing.

What’s something about you/your band that you think people should know that maybe they don’t?

My and Andrew’s dog, The Jackson, is on our first EP’s artwork. He’s the cutest and everyone falls in love with him. it’s the truth.

If you had to pick only one of your songs for people to listen to, which one would it be?

I would probably say one of our new songs called “phone” you’ll have to come to a show to hear it until it comes out on our new EP 🙂

Who would you cast in the movie of your band?

Tyler – John Cusack, Andy – Ed Helms, Andrew – Martin Starr, Me – Robin Wright

How does your mom/family react to your music? Do they come to your shows?

My mom hasn’t lived around here for a while, but she has come to see me play a couple times. My dad has always been my biggest supporter in my musical endeavors. He’s the reason that I got into bands in the first place! He is a drummer and was in bands for years. He still comes to my shows. 🙂

What band or artist have you seen live the most number of times?

Over my whole life… ? I’ve probably seen Joe Tarowsky (Park Plan / Action Camp) play in all different bands the most.

What’s the craziest thing that has happened to you at a show as a performer or spectator?

When I went to HellFest in 2003 or 2004… I was waiting to see the Ataris and had to watch some hardcore band before them. Some dude was doing windmills and kept getting closer and closer to me. He hammered the bridge of my nose. Thankfully, it didn’t break, but the pain didn’t stop me from getting right up front to see Kris Roe!
