Today’s Millvale Music Festival Inquisition features Jessica Fisch of Sun Hound and Lady Jessica. Her and the rest of Sun Hound will be playing GAP Park at 11am and will have an encore performance at Panza Gallery at 11pm. Jessica will also be performing solo as Lady Jessica at Tazza d’Oro at 1pm.

List the names of every band that you’ve ever played in ever.
High School Jam Band, Soul Society, Sun Hound, The Betting House, Lady Jessica, and a lot of choirs.

What was the artist, album, or song that inspired you to play/write music?
Monterey International Pop Festival 1967 album, the musical “Hair,” and the Eric Burdon & War supergroup.

What is your favorite piece of merch that you own?

Rasputina ladies’ shirt from their show at Club Cafe a few years back.

Tell us one thing about the Pittsburgh music scene that could be better and one thing about the scene that you love.

I love that this scene has SO. MUCH. TALENT. Like oozing with it. It makes every live music experience worthwhile; I always find something to admire about the musicians I hear in this city.

I do think that Pittsburgh could do a better job of incorporating and showcasing artists and creative influencers that perhaps don’t have the media handle that some others do. Some musicians are gifted with the art of PR, others aren’t. Pgh needs to remember that these are two different facets, and incorporate more local music outreach (like more of what Punksburgh and like folks are doing).

What’s something about you/your band that you think people should know that maybe they don’t?

We met through a Craigslist Music posting, but we didn’t actually meet until over a year after the ad was answered!

If you had to pick only one of your songs for people to listen to, which one would it be?

Na Na Na Na by Sun Hound and Sleepwalker by Lady Jessica.

Who would you cast in the movie of your band?

Unknown actors and a cameo from Kenny Rogers (band joke).

How does your family react to your music? Do they come to your shows?

They really don’t dig it… but they are supportive from a distance and will ask how my shows went. We’re an affectionate bunch.

What band or artist have you seen live the most number of times?

Well, I go to the Acousticafe at Mr. Smalls any Monday I can, so those regular artists there (Tai Chirovsky, Jeremy Caywood, DRU, Timothy Vox, Patrick Lawton, James Viverito, Amy Mhmm to name a few), I’ve seen them literally the most number of times. I WISH I could say that about Fiona Apple and Black Moth Super Rainbow, but I cannot.

What’s the craziest thing that has happened to you at a show as a performer or spectator?

I’ve thrown up on stage *while performing* 3 times. Eat before you drink and sing and learn from mistakes.

Does your band have any shows coming up or other newsworthy events (album release, etc)?

Sure do! May 9th at Arsenal Bowling Lanes, **May 12th MMF!!**, and I’m hosting Acousticafe as Lady Jessica on Monday May 14th!
